Good Citizenry
Where to Start“So rather than seeing the public interest as apart from the private interests of citizens, as was argued in the past, it seems more appropriate now to regard the two as linked, with the one informed by the other, promoting a sense among citizens that their interests are linked to those of the community as a whole.” (From Citizenship: A Very Short Introduction, by Richard Bellamy)

What Constitutes Good Citizenry? |
Good citizenship involves the private citizen's interest in and commitment to the public good. A good citizen no longer views the public good as apart from self interest, but instead devotes themselves to benefitting the community for the community's sake. Denying the separation of private and public interest, good citizenship fuses the two in an individual's, or group of individuals, devotion to bettering their community.

Our History |
Individuals and organizations which model good citizenship are essential to the community. They not only provide genuine service and concern for the public wellbeing, but also demonstrate the values of good citizenship and help to inspire others to take upon themselves the burden of the public good.
